Fake media campaign on issue of Afghan envoy’s daughter in hybrid war: Moeed
ISLAMABAD, July 19 (APP): National Security Advisor Dr Moeed Yusuf said on Monday that the fake social media campaign orchestrated by verified Indian social media accounts, which shared a false image of the daughter of the Afghan envoy, was part of the hybrid war against Pakistan.
Indian propaganda was aimed at creating divisions between Islamabad and Kabul, he told a press conference, flanked by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the Inspector General of Police of Islamabad and the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Dr Moeed cited the EU’s Disinfolab report, which exposed India’s network of fake news that slandered Pakistan in international forums.
Identical social media accounts, disseminating propaganda related to Kashmir and Balochistan, have been implicated in spreading false information regarding the alleged kidnapping saga of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter, he added.
Some peace saboteurs, he said, were trying to make Pakistan a scapegoat for their failures and they were trying to establish a false narrative that Pakistan and Afghanistan were eternal enemies.
Dr Moeed also highlighted presentations showing various social media hoax campaigns generated by bots and verified Twitter accounts operating from India, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
