KATRA, October 8: Regional Outreach Office, J&K, Ladakh Region, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India today launched an eight-day multimedia exhibition on “Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav” at government upper secondary school, Katra.
The multimedia exhibit was opened by Satyendra Prakash, Senior Managing Director, Bureau of Outreach & Communication, Ministry of I&B.
Speaking on the occasion, Satyendra Prakash said that the main objective of these multimedia exhibits on Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav is to showcase the contribution of freedom fighters. He added that besides the main freedom fighters of the Indian Freedom Movement, unsung heroes have also found a special place in these exhibitions organized by regional outreach offices across the country.
Prakash stressed that every citizen of this country should participate in these multimedia exhibitions organized on Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav to make him a “Jan Andolan” so that people are informed about the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters. He also said that the other aim of the conduct of these exhibitions by the regional outreach offices is to showcase regional freedom fighters so that the local population is made aware of their contribution during the freedom movement. Today’s exhibit also featured freedom fighters from the Himalayas, including Brigadier J & Klike Rajendra Singh, known as the “Savior of Kashmir”.
Prakash also focused on strengthening the Office of Outreach and Communication’s virtual community network, especially through social media, so that the message carried by these exhibits reaches every household across the country.
Neha Jalali, Co-Director of Regional Outreach Office, J&K, Ladakh Region, said on the occasion that these exhibits on Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav will certainly instill the spirit of the campaigners linked to the struggle for freedom and be a tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country.
Besides students, artists and other audiences, the exhibition was attended by Amit Kumar, Co-Director, BOC, New Delhi & Ambika Soni, AD Tourism, Katra, Manik Singh Rathore, Undersecretary, Transport, Miss Ranjit Kour , State Tax Officer who are Special Duty Officers on Navratara Festival and Sheikh Mudasir Amin, Media and Communications Officer, PIB Jammu.
The exhibit included rare photographs, video clips, a touchscreen, photo collage, and audiovisual consoles about freedom fighters. Vintage photographs of freedom fighters and important movements during the freedom struggle were also included in the exhibition.
The multimedia exhibit also included display racks, selfie corners, and interactive games to engage audiences. In addition, a competition was organized on the occasion. The inaugural ceremony also included cultural programs involving cultural troupes from Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Odisha.

“Faces and Feelings” features photographs by Laura Ruth Bidwell and paintings by Max Markwald and Care Hanson.

Bidwell is a photographer, bookmaker, and collage artist who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Akron University. Markwald, a graduate of the Akron Meyers University School of Art, focuses on large-format oil paintings. With an MA from Bowling Green State University, Hanson’s work includes acrylic on canvas, mixed media on recycled cardboard, and nature mandalas.

Art opens doors for communication and connects people, Hanson said.

“During the months of COVID-19 and quarantine, these doors asserted life,” she said.

Judge Elinore Marsh Stormer was already exhibiting local artwork in the courthouse in 2019, showcasing the work of clients from the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board, Summit Metro Parks and Community Support Services.

That same year, his project, Curated Courthouse, received $ 50,000 as part of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Art Challenge to continue bringing art to the public.

This award kicked off the courthouse’s partnership with Curated Storefront, which was launched in 2016, also as part of a Knight Foundation Arts Challenge.

The goal of the Knight Challenges is to connect people to places and to each other in 26 Knight Cities, where the Knight family once published newspapers. In the Art Challenge, offered every few years, Knight asks the Akron community a single question, which must be answered in 150 words or less: What is your best idea for the arts in Akron?

Those who submit ideas are offered a chance to compete for a share of $ 1 million to fund their projects.

Since Curated Storefront was named a Knight Arts Challenge winner, the initiative, under the leadership of Executive Director Rick Rogers, has hosted multimedia displays in 86 Akron storefronts in 25 mostly neglected or underused buildings, illuminating windows and doors and lighting the roofs. of buildings. The windows are dressed in tableau-style shows, and multimedia art has been installed on the ceilings and outside of the buildings.

The Knight Arts Challenge returned to Akron this year, asking the Akronites for their best ideas throughout July. The winners are expected to be announced shortly.

The research initiative will build on the Lab’s recent groundbreaking study on the transmission of aerosol particles in classrooms as well as studies related to the convergence of building and health sciences in residences, offices and other indoor environments. Research results will include providing factual information to the senior living industry to help inform key decisions made by owners and operators as the industry progresses with a greater emphasis on health, welfare and safety.

This Sunday’s Readings speak of suffering, in particular suffering which is the consequence of sin and, paradoxically, is the remedy for sin.

As CS Lewis shows, suffering “is inherent in the very existence of a world where souls can meet” (The pain problem). We can therefore expect to find him integrated into the world that God gives us to enter into love with him.

“We must think of love as of suffering,” said Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. To say Yes to love is to risk suffering, for “to love is to be dependent on something that can perhaps be taken away from me”. Angelica Casas, a senior video reporter at BBC News, was honored Thursday with the Cecilia Vaisman Medill Award for Latin and Hispanic Multimedia Journalists.

The award, which is co-sponsored by the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, recognizes Hispanic and Latin audio and video journalists who cover their own communities.

Casas won the award for his sensitive coverage of Latin communities in the United States and Latin America. Gary Marx, Vaisman’s widower and himself an award-winning journalist, spoke about the work of Casas and his wife at the awards ceremony.

“Like (Vaisman), you often walk away and let the subjects tell their own stories,” Marx told Casas at the ceremony. “By doing this, you nurture a trust and intimacy between the subject and the viewer.”

Casas, originally from San Antonio, Texas, was raised by a single mother to an immigrant family in Zacatecas, Mexico. She said her family history inspires her work.

She has produced a wide variety of stories about Latin communities. During the pandemic, she reported on the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on Latin families.

His work has also included coverage of breaking news. Casas said one of the most difficult and life-changing stories she covered was the El Paso shooting in 2019. While reporting in El Paso, Casas said she attended at vigils, met with families of victims and spoke with community members.

“It was a struggle to cover that up, and it was very emotional,” Casas said. “I think I’m still healing from covering this up even now.”

Casas said his Latina identity shaped the way he approached reporting. Her experience has allowed her to better connect with her sources and help them tell their stories, she said.

She added that the recent shift towards more transparency in journalism allows her to inform her work about her experiences and who she is.

“I am very supportive of people using their identities and telling stories in journalism,” Casas said. “I think this is something that maybe wouldn’t have been accepted two decades ago … but I think today, because of the racial calculation that we go through, I think the transparency in the journalism uses our identity to cover stories. “

One of the most important aspects of Casas’ journalism is the personal angle of her stories, she said. She added that she focuses on building trust and relationships with her sources.

Casas said she uses the video to focus on the people she is presenting. She uses techniques such as narrowing down and having interviewees look directly at the camera to make her coverage more personal.

The award honors the late Cecilia Vaisman, Medill professor and award-winning audio journalist, who died in 2015 at the age of 54. 2021 marks the third year that Medill has awarded this award.

“Cecilia Vaisman was an incredibly thoughtful and talented journalist, a dedicated and inspiring teacher and a beloved member of the Medill family,” Medill Dean Charles Whitaker said at the awards ceremony.

Vaisman was a champion of Latin communities and covered the issues these groups faced in the United States and abroad. She also helped found Homelands Productions, a point of sale that covers Latin America and the Caribbean.

Casas said empathy is a crucial part not only of the journalistic process, but also of the purpose of journalism.

“I think we become better humans when we understand the experiences of others,” Casas said. “If we forget that part of journalism, then I don’t really know what the mission of what we’re doing is.”
